The Magic Alcove (Child Care Center) Poem by Stephanie Eve Kane Arado

The Magic Alcove (Child Care Center)

In a small alcove on the north east side
Magic and laughter erupt from inside
Ms. Sandy gives smiles and gentle direction
To young lads and ladies who gaze at her collection
She sets the tone and maintains the order
Parents and children both respect and adore her

Ms. Jenny is next and from her room sparks fly
Science projects, photos and art hang high
With the flick of her wrist her pupils gather
Watching for leprechauns and soaking in laughter
Discovery and creativity reign in her realm
Parents are happy with Ms. Jenny at the helm

Ms. Sharon is in the middle nurturing development
Singing ABCs, playing games full of merriment
Encouraging each youngster to use his/her words well
Kids practice sharing until the new skills gel
Turning our little tots into bright ladies and lads
Sharon’s positive attitude delights all moms and dads

Ms. Kim cares for our youngest little darlings
We wince as they cry and continue their sobbings
Yet her bright smile cheers us as we leave on our way
We know that her nurturing spirit will win the day
Armed with paint brushes, dress up clothes and crafts
Her creative talent is turning frowns into laughs

If you are looking for a smile just spend a day
Where magic exists in so many ways
Learning, creating, imagining and playing
Eating, talking, napping and re-creating
Like warm cookies, a blanket and a bed-time tale
The Child Care Center prepares our children to sail.
