The Lover Who Lies Poem by R. Ariffin

The Lover Who Lies

Rating: 5.0

Sweetness is she the bearer of the heart;
That lay upon the silhouette of the first sunrise;
The lover, full of love and its entire splendor;
As splendor as would love itself magnified twice.

He is the man whom she sought for love;
‘Forever’, the promise from her lips unfolds;
‘In the end’, she bathes and colors it with hope;
The pledge and promise for all that he holds.

But time and convenience are cruel indeed;
For that is what love truly means to her;
His dreams of profound hope and affection;
Has become a mirage of vagueness that she would stir.

The man she sought is battered and weakened;
By dreams of which men would naturally adore;
She fastens his heart unto her forsaken convenience;
Until his heart beats conveniently no more.

Darkness is she the bearer of the heart;
That lay upon the silhouette of hope in disguise;
The sorrow of all things broken and twisted upon;
As twisted and broken as the lover who lies.
