The Lover Boy Poem by shakil ahmed

The Lover Boy

The Lover Boy

The lover boy goes with his friend
Forgetting the pall of despondence
They are rollicking with fun
In my unexpected presence

He is young and handsome
With full zest and pride
Enjoying the moments of love
With his would be bride.

Quite unknown of the facts
That sharp thorns are waiting ahead
To pinch their delicate bodies
In their velvet-like foamy bed.

A dark night will come
When they will shed tears from eyes
All their near friends will hear
Their agonized shrill cries.

A violent tempest will hit
Their love-lit home
They will be found wandering
In the midst of sheer gloom.

Their words of love will fade
In the distant horizon
And life will seem to them
A mere dream-like vision.
