The Load Off Poem by Raj Dronamraju

The Load Off

Take a load off
Punch the girl you love in the face figuratively speaking
Refuse to go to work and hide in the basement

Take a load off
Lay upon the floor, roll into a ball, crow like a rooster, and burst into tears
Brag about your amplifier and get your nipples pierced

Take a load off
Hope that change is like your elbow
No one knows what that means but when it hurts, there is a strange euphoria

It's far past the time for relaxation
Too broken to heal and hysteria has set in
Cut out bits from newspapers and use them to assemble unclear messages

That was the tired arrangement that snapped the workingman's dream
Crammed whole journeys into double shifts
I hope someone holds the boss responsible
