The Lemonade Decade Poem by Rose Kanana

The Lemonade Decade

Rating: 0.5

I must admit that the past decade was my best lemonade.I loved, laughed, enhanced my education, designed new interventions, made friends & let go of others.
I embraced sickness of my loved ones and myself. For sometime i had lost my spiritual trust in God for the loss of my loved ones but through time i accepted death as a process. I learnt that i had more to be grateful everyday.I became an auntie, a sister in law to a new crew that joined the Cecilia and Muthuris lineage. New colleagues came and left i also left others. Looking back, this has been a very eventful decade for me and my loved ones. The epitome of resilience was marked by growing my dreadlocks- i learnt to be patient, to watch every strand lock in three years it is still locking😂😂 and that is how my life is toning down through patience.
I have been transiting in appreciating emotional quotient than intellectual quotient as i celebrate each birthday my worth is measured by what i give not what i receive. I have learnt that when i borrow and do not receive, the other party could be in a similar situation. I call this my lemonade decade and this lemonade was worth the blending.
