The Knight Poem by Phillip Dodham Cormier

The Knight

The sword clattered to the ground
As the lovely Maiden stepped forward
His eyes glazed over
Such beauty he had never seen before
He was trapped within her gaze
None knew what he felt
The earth had ceased to exist to the knight
He was far from this realm
Lost in the depths of a sea of love
He did not know her name but he cared not
He was forever hers
He forever belonged the unknown maiden
He knew not what to do
Lost was he within her eyes
Her arms spread wide and took him in her grasp
His eyes shut
A single tear rolled down his cheek
The tear traced down his face
It dripped silently from his chin
Splashing into the pool of blood that laid in front of the knight
He was gone
Gone forever into the embrace of his mysterious maiden
