The Indian Farmer Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

The Indian Farmer

When there is no rain
Farmers groan in pain
And with unseasonal rain
There produce flood the drains.

With their life in mess
Farmers are in distress
And with no fruitful harvest
The bankers further oppress.

They in darkness grope
And find life hard to cope
And then they pick up a rope
And hang-up all their hopes!

But shouldn't we find a solution
To stride over this miserable situation?
Some sort of emancipation
So as to build a prosperous nation.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
N.B. Indian agriculture is predominantly dependent upon rains, especially the monsoon rains. If the rain plays truant and fail, farmers are in doldrums. Another factor that haunts the farming community is the unseasonal rain that destroys standing crops and reduces yield. A practical solution needs to be found and implemented at the grassroots level so as to alleviate their sufferings. (written on 24.04.2015)

What's up with the question marks, it's either a good poem or a bad poem. Not a 'good poem? ? ? ? '.....

A Thoughtful write. Really its pathetic to hear suicide by farmers. Yes, one has to search for practical solution. Many crops lots due to untimely rains. Really one has to think about. Beautiful presentation. Loved reading it.
