The Ice-Drake Poem by Marilyn Shepperson

The Ice-Drake

The ice-drake like the fire-drake
Is not strictly a dragon
Though it certainly is of dragon kin
Only four limbs, two legs and two wings
To the western dragons' remarkable six
Nor can it speak in human tongues
Not even converse by mind to mind
It regards humans, like all animals
As just another mouthful of food
But whereas the fire-drake, like the dragon, its' cousin
Will try to fry you before eating
The ice-drake, as its' name suugests
Breathes out a blizzards and freezes you instead.
