The Heat Of The Moment Poem by ann rta

The Heat Of The Moment

Rating: 5.0

Suddenly thunder erupts and screams
at the startled figures, who scurry for shelter
as the spots of rain begin to softly sprinkle,
changing swiftly to a waterfall of water
down pouring from the black heavy clouds,
from which jagged lightening forks
in cutting swathes of white light.

Terrible beauty unleashed by the
sticky heat of a sultry summer.

I clung to him in the shelter of a doorway
with my heart pounding and racing
from the claps of the savage exploding noise
and the contact of his strong wet body.
Our clammy forms clutching each other for comfort
but as the lightening flashed our emotions electrified
and our lips locked together with stormy passion.

We hurried home as both storms intensified
and rushed inside to rip off our sodden clinging clothing.
Our bodies crashed together like the black storm clouds
rolling back and forth. There was no time for foreplay
as the lightening hurtled and thrust into the cracks in the earth
seeking to climax and release its energy into the molten core.
Sweat streamed like the rain over steamy surfaces
and as the room lit in a flash of eerie white light
we arced together and fused in throbbing ecstasy,
our cries mixing with the thunderous applause.
