The Hardest Part Is Letting Go Poem by Chris Embrick

The Hardest Part Is Letting Go

Rating: 5.0

Last night I had no peaceful sleep
I saw no beauty in the dawn
If time indeed heals a heartache
I don't think I'll last that long
Night and day the tears flow
The hardest part is letting go

Living on the mountain top
Days to treasure with my wife
Now, the mountain's on my soul
I'm struggling to go on with life
Night and day the tears flow
The hardest part is letting go

How life has changed in one day
When all but love is swept away
Few days have been so unrelenting
The hours pass without a smile
Today, I'll go on lamenting
And lay my wife beside our child
Night and day the tears flow
The hardest part is letting go.

A beautiful and accurate picture of grief. 'The mountain's on my soul'........ 'I don't think I'll last that long'...... I remember when my fiance' died, being afraid to go to sleep at night. I was afraid I'd die in my sleep and not awaken, so great was the pain. This one deserves a 10.

I never thought someone could transmit spiritual pain so exactly and with so much feeling. I felt your pain so much, I cried. Poetry can do those moving things when there's poetic genius behind. Please accept my most heart felt condolences. I know what it is, I'm so sorry....
