The Hardest Part Poem by RACHEL ZARANTONELLO

The Hardest Part

Rating: 5.0

I knew you would not be here
I didn't even ask you to stay
I wanted to make you feel better
and maybe brighten up your day
You cannot move forward
or let anyone care
It's easier to be stone cold than
to have a life with someone to share
I wanted to make new memories
But you will not live for today
Too busy missing what you lost
afraid it will slip away
If you do not let the past go
It will not let you live
So many reasons to smile
so much left to give
As I sit and wonder
What is it that I don't see?
The hardest part of loving you
is knowing you don't even care about me.
