The Hangman's Noose. Poem by Aron Lelei

The Hangman's Noose.

May be a pity to face the electrocution
Less to the suicidal thought when the noose nears
But the noose may be such sweet when brought loosely.
The sight of the hangman may be terrifying
His spirit ephemeral and dainty
But to his self interest the noose must act
As is and as when but must accomplish the act.

The desires of the heart and the inspiration of the soul
Together as and twainly as they operate
The prescription of the warder must prevail
The convict must face the hangman's noose
The noose may be cool to accept as the wrong
Yet the convict must face the noose
As is and as when but the act is evident.

Finally, the hangman needs his salary
The noose has to act as its duty entails
The convict face the judgments
And the whole work accomplished.
The hangman's noose must ethically rest
Awaiting another extra duty but for now
As is and as when, the act must be accomplished.
