The Halcyon Birds Poem by Joyce Hemsley

The Halcyon Birds

Acres of beautiful meadows and trees
Country I love with its valleys and leas,
the sweet birds of England forever on show
in the place of my birth, where memories flow.

In 'halcyon' days when you walked with me
happily telling of our life yet to be,
Kingfisher Land was exquisitely grand
bird eggs from the nest floating over the sand.

Acres of beautiful meadows and trees
blue sky above overlooking the seas
sweet birds of England forever on show
their melody lingering, mild soft and low.
