The Grim Reaper Poem by Francis Duggan

The Grim Reaper

For each of us there is a last December
For some quite near for others far away
When we must answer summons of Grim Reaper
So enjoy your life enjoy it whilst you may.

The grim reaper not so bad as he's painted
Though of him many very much afraid
At least he prove all human kind are equal
The monarch and the pauper equal made.

The monarch she may feel safe in her castle
But to her just one visit he will pay
And he will come unwanted and uninvited
He'll set the time and she will have no say.

It does n't mean from him you're due a visit
If you are wrinkled looking old and gray
He often visit people who are younger
And he choose his victims in the strangest way.

But one thing about the reaper he is honest
And amongst people he doesn't differentiate
In time he come to claim all living creatures
He sets their time and time on none will wait.

Most people live in fear of the grim reaper
He comes unseen and leaves behind heartache
He pays no favours, treat all people equal
And the monarch and the pauper he will take.
