The Glass Cages Poem by Bharat Mehru

The Glass Cages

There were
two glass cages
in a dental clinic's
waiting room

one was a TV and
an aquarium
under it,

Two were the spectators
me and my mother

A debate
was going on
at the TV screen

but again
two were the sides
-pro demonetization &
con demonetization

Many were present
at this electronic
glass cage
many were present in
the aquarium as well

I was intensely
watching Tv
admiring some
comments

My mother was
intensely watching
the fish tank

On a stupid
opinion of a
debtor
I irritably
commented-
'who brought him
here? '

At the same moment
my aged mother
commented painfully -
'who put these
poor fishes here? '

I switched off
the Tv
Forthe debate
had already
been decided.
