The Gamble Poem by Thomas Northx

The Gamble

Rating: 5.0

I had no choice but bet it all,
bluffing to the end.
Being dealt a dead mans hand,
I had to go all in.

Now the world will see my cards,
as I walk away.
Why the hell did I not fold,
To play another day.

Never thinking I could lose,
I saw the rivers edge.
As I played I found myself,
sitting in the dredge.

Life's a game you cannot bluff,
and one that doesn't lie.
or you'll find yourself like me,
Bidding life goodbye..
