The Friend In Need Poem by Gangadharan nair Pulingat..

The Friend In Need

In the path of human survival
You were our best friend,
You helped us to live in better ways
Gave light, heat, and protection
You made us to learn to cook, and eat
From raw tubers to grains we made food
Without your help we cannot sustain
The first man who made you to obey us
We cannot remember the name still
It may be in folklore, in different names
Somewhere in Greek mythologies, or Indian texts
He helped us to change to modernity
Introduced to you as your obeying friends
Sometimes your mischief made us to suffer
More harm to the world and the people
The animals, and greenery of the forests
There we traced your rage, and some reasons
Of course, we lit the lamps and saluted
With folded hands, to forgive the sins
The oil we poured in lamps, with respect
Fire, the great power of universe.
