The Flight Poem by Sara Teasdale

The Flight

Rating: 3.0

Look back with longing eyes and know that I will follow,
Lift me up in your love as a light wind lifts a swallow,
Let our flight be far in sun or windy rain--
But what if I heard my first love calling me again?

Hold me on your heart as the brave sea holds the foam,
Take me far away to the hills that hide your home;
Peace shall thatch the roof and love shall latch the door--

But what if I heard my first love calling me once more?

No words can truly appreciate the beauty of this poem of love. The intensity of the love experienced by the poet finds words in the poem. Wonderful

i think we'll always take the FLIGHT with that one person who loves us and not with the ones we once loved because it can't be...just can't be...for millions of reasons..; 0[...

I'm not sure where you got this to be 'The Flight' but it is definitely not it. 'The Flight, ' while about love, has symbolism in it where the eagles represent people in love....
