The Father Of Lies

They say I cheat I always lie
I lead astray I cause to die
It isn’t true I don’t deceive
I never knew Adam and Eve

They say I tempt you night and day
Beguiling those who kneel and pray
But please believe these words I share
I never stop a child in prayer

Mistakes about the cross were made
I failed to see how debts were paid
It’s true He died I saw the end
So can you still on Christ depend?

You can’t believe all people say
Like fools they seek no time to pray
Around their necks a cross they wear
Believe you me I wouldn’t dare

I know my future looks quite dim
I’ve lost it all because of Him
Perhaps I’ll get another go
Then I’ll show that so and so

Heaven or hell, it all depends
If I succeed with all my friends
Yet if you come to hell with me
Try first to steal me back the key

Perhaps you’ll bring some light down here
Some water too, here’s none I fear
Though still it’s warm, I get no chills
The fuel is free He sends no bills

Eternity I’m bound to stay
So if you’ll leave The Lord today
I have a place for you prepared
Just sin my friend and don’t be scared…
