The Evening Promise. Poem by Subhadip Bhattacharya

The Evening Promise.

Rating: 5.0

In the evening as I came out of my house
I, with my friends....
By the park... hanging out.
I saw the tall buildings lit up
Sports cars, bikes rushing by.
Neon signboards...
With the names of shops and restaurants
Written on it.

But what was written in all of them
Was not written but I could still read it
Was the word.
PROMISE.

And I could see the word promise
And the more sweet it was
Because it was never meant to meet
And I thought of the sweet cheating
That was in the air.
And that was all of it.
A fleeting fancy as the
PROMISE was passing by.
And.....
You can't grasp it.

A very thoughtful and clever perception. More often, it is true. It is the age of competition and marketing, so the businessmen hold out promise about the quality and standard of their goods and services. Thanks.
