The Eloquent Man Poem by June FeirCruz

The Eloquent Man

For someone as self effacing as you, your words are compelling and magnetic
It draws me closer even when I didn't want to.
I was never the woman who gets easily swayed by sweet nothings, but your words are sweet somethings.
You make me want to listen to every nuance, every pronunciation and articulation.
And it just boggles my mind.
I never know if you are speaking the truth, that is part of your charm
But also your Waterloo.
You seem so convincing, so sincere - yet part of me don't want to believe you.
So you can talk as long as you want, your words have really no value
It is how you treat me
That is how I would know what I mean to you.
