"The Dreams of My Heart"

The dreams of my heart and my mind pass,
Nothing stays with me long,
But I have had from a child
The deep solace of song;

If that should ever leave me,
Let me find death and stay
With things whose tunes are played out and forgotten
Like the rain of yesterday.

    It might be about dementia and the ability to forget the order of the pass, if we loose the single happy moments of our childhood and innocent’s death seems preferable then a life without the innocent convictions. Beautiful work

    i wonder what has driven this great poet to not forget her chikdhood.
    maybe life after childhood is not so pleasing. just a thought

    I would agree with Mr. Craddock's interpretation If Teasdale had written AS A CHILD, instead of FROM A CHILD''...I guess I'm applying the critical rigour demanded by Mr. Straw...therefore, to me, Teasdale's DEEP SOLACE OF SONG is the memory of pure, innoncent love.

    Is that trite like in beef trite? I think beef trite is delicious, and the poem is good too. I guess if you don't think this should be poem of the day you can start your own website.

    The management. Not.

    I agree with Kevin Straw- this poem makes no sense- trite as ever- Why anyone would pick this poem to be poem of the day is beyond me.
