The Devil's Lair Poem by Maya Trowborst

The Devil's Lair

Smoke and lies fill the air
Men gamble their lives away without care
But that is life here
Within the Devil's lair

Beauty for gold
Youth to the old
Death for life
And many more to be left untold...

But that is life under the Devil's wing
Because why tell the truth when lying is a thing?
And why bother to love when it's easier to hate?
And why wear rags when you could steal a ring?

But do not let any of this fool you friend
For his ways will make your mind twist and bend
For that is the truth of the Devil's lair;
That he always wins in the end.
