The Debt Poem by David Wood

The Debt

Rating: 5.0

How can this debt be repaid?
How can such dedication to
Humanity ever be rewarded,
Never has so much been owed
By so many of us to each of our
Medical teams: doctors, nurses
Paramedics, ambulance drivers
Cleaners, cooks and porters.
We salute them all for their bravery.

Atropos's walks with the unwary,
The innocent, the old and infirm
Her shears ever ready. She cannot
Be turned or avoided, we are all at
Her mercy. Only by skilful hands,
Love and unswerving dedication
Of our hospital and care workers.
The political class has failed them,
With their uncaring life of indulgence.

I hope so too Rose, all essential workers are heroes but particularly the medical services.

In this time of uncertainty, their dedication to their sworn duty is beyond measure. Let us hope and pray they will be spared from the claws of this virus.
