The Day, The Moment Poem by Nichole Pettit

The Day, The Moment

The day she tells you
Is the day you know hate
A hate so strong that,
You wish to kill
In avengance of her pain
The times you see her cry
Just because it hurts to much
To bare
And see her smile's light
Diminished
Is the day you know you care
Beyond any words

The day she tells you
And you see her face,
Darken with fear
At the sight of a crowd, unknowingly
Is the day you know,
Things will never be the same

The moment she tells you
That she's been raped
Is the moment you realize
You are never safe
Is the moment you,
Have a fire lite ablazed in your
Heart.

In that moment you learn
What it is to hate
that there is no safety
What it is to want to kill
To want to spill the blood of
Another

On that day
In that moment
You learn to hide you
Feelings
You learn to
Pretend
