The Day That You Die Poem by Sheena Blackhall

The Day That You Die

The day that you die
Will be an ordinary day

Monkeys in zoos
Will sociably de-flea their companions

Aeroplanes will fly from here to there
Dogs will chase rabbits in a farmer's field

In front of a mirror
Your husband/ brother/ father
Will be shaving

In Tokyo, a banker's drinking tea
In Aberdeen a cyclist runs a light
