The Day I Died Poem by Asaolu Abayomi

The Day I Died

Farewell to the old rhino
She once stamped out the burning fire
Farewell to the kickboxing horse
She once ran the entire universe
Farewell to the two headed dragon
Flaming the fidgety through the wind
Farewell to the goodly voices of angels
They escorted me till I got here

How lovely they all felt
How joyful their heart was
My cry made them laugh
Singing like Canaries
Terrible voices
Sweet Melody
Bitter sweet memories
I became everyone's friend
Alas! I had even died

Pains, struggles and torture
Tears, gnashing of teeth and sorrow
Weep, dry and weep
Smile, laugh and endurance
Hope, faith and longsuffering
Talks, thoughts and persuasion
Joy, weep and weep
I have been through all

I traveled so long to be here
Struggling to pick the baton in million tries
I have traveled very far since I got here
Everyday accompanied;
By pain and by strength
By joy and by sorrow
By peace and by war
Now I know
I died the day I got here
And fearless to return thitherward.
