The Dark Princess Poem by Christian Muller

The Dark Princess

So foul are you young princess of the dark.
How damp your kingdom fares beneath the waves
Of sleeping rock. So porous is the bark
Which fords the empty Styx. That's led by knaves
Of stone who pinch my coin for shoddy work.
No better fairs the other bank. Where dead
Of ev'ry age within the shadows lurk.
As I approach where none of warm heart tread.
But you oh gem! Who shines within your night.
Draws forth my weary heart and careful eye.
I'd strike the sun for your bright wit. And fight
The seas for your heart's deep. I'd black the sky
To shade your em'rald eyes. And burn green fields
To dance for'er with love that never yields.
