The Dance Poem by Jackie Allen

The Dance

What is this~ this drumming beat
That crowds the space within ~
Whose rhythm dances my feet
Causes my head to spin
And enchants the waiting heart within?

The throbbing music, the fascination
Of flashing colors blushing pink
On heart and body’s concentration
Credulity yielding, no time to think
Tis ecstasy’s whirlwind awaiting revelation.

Hush, the sound of the drumming mutes the band
Whose tunes twirl with hearts in hand
Witness now the spinning, whirling
Dreams floating above, shimmering, quivering
Acquiescing to passion’s deafening command.
