The Crib Carol Poem by Sue Oxley

The Crib Carol

See the Baby born of Mary
Come to Life as Love contained.
God in Heaven seeks to find us
Quick to bring us home again.

Come and see us
Gentle Maiden
As we watch
The Christ child sleep
Come and bless us
And pray for us
From your pity
Wide and deep.

See the Mother, when her answer
Gave her body as the Grail,
Wrapped the Christ child deep within her
So the Mystery might prevail.

Come and see us
Gentle Mother
As we watch
The Christ child sleep
Come and bless us
And pray for us
From your mercy
Wide and deep.

See the great and humble witness
God in Man is born today.
Word is given from His goodness
There where love and beauty lay.

Come and see us
Gentle Mary
As we watch
The Christ child sleep
Come and bless us
And pray for us
From your sorrow
Wide and deep

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Another carol for the BBC carol competition, they didn't like this one either - it may have been too Catholic for them I think! Anyway, its the one I like best.
