The Couple Who Stopped For A While Poem by RIC BASTASA

a tree stands
on the side of the road
where we stopped
for a moment to take
a closer look

its leaves are dark green
thick and gives full shade
its trunks big its twigs
do not swing with the wind

the roots are deep
and thus it has remained as is
despite the
passing of a hundred years

it bears no fruit however
no flowers too
just leaves

after a while we think
it is time to go now
and here we are
carrying with us nothing
but our happy hearts....
