The Cold Wind Blows Poem by Kelvin Rush

The Cold Wind Blows

The cold wind blows on another lonely night
My heart implodes desperate for light
Painful memories bitter and sore
Please stop this torture I can't take much more

A fatal disease clouds the air
Twisting and strangling crushing despair
Fortune in pain never favours the brave
Going insane as I crawl to my grave

I think back to the time when I felt at peace
These days I feel trapped unable to release
I'm shackled embattled in my own destructive hell
Choking on my vomit in my rat infested cell

They blatantly took my freedom away
They punished and devoured me day after day
They shaved my head and stripped me bare
They left me for dead they didn't care

I suffered many years of pain and confusion
A million different tears revealed the same conclusion
That one man alone will never win the fight
So the cold wind blows on another lonely night
