The Clouds Poem by Juan Olivarez

The Clouds

Above the wild deserted prairie,
Surrounding spaces wide and airy.
Above the valley, the mountain shrouds,
Free and beautiful, float the clouds.

They float they glide, with splendid grace,
Stretching their arms towards space.
Above the valley the mountain shrouds,
Swift and lovely, float the clouds.

Some grey ones come, some white ones go,
And quickly the wind begins to blow.
Above the valley the mountain shrouds,
Mighty Thor lurks in the clouds.

They bring the rain and life so sweet,
That makes this good old Earth complete.
Above the valley the mountain shrouds,
I wish I was in the clouds.

And sometimes as I sit and gaze,
They'll create a familiar face,
Above the valley the mountain shrouds,
May there always be the clouds.
