The Case Of A Soul Poem by Joseph Williams

The Case Of A Soul

Rating: 5.0

I've seen Paris in the bright bloom of night
And marched between the ranks of a thousand legions
Carried hatred that burned deep and hot like sulfur
And I've rejoiced at the birth of others

I've circumnavigated the globe in pursuits of glory
And spoiled myself on war's abundant bounty
I've fed Doves loaves of sourdough on lazy afternoons
And I've harvested my family's livelihood

I've created and destroyed in the same hour
And I am the selfless virtues so often preached
I am the primordial desire to survive and spawn
And I've given the shirt off of my back

I am rooted within every man
Deeply seated in his own introspection
I have been tainted with selfish villany
And I've been redeemed with loving repentance
