The Awakening Newborn Generation Poem by Tushar Ray

The Awakening Newborn Generation

What can I say about our newborns today
Seeing their countenance at birth
Makes me wonder on their immense future potential
They do open their eyes at birth
Turning head around toward the inbound-sound
I have never seen a thing like this in my life so far

Listen to a story of my youngest-granddaughter, Mya*
At 3-half-year age she was a cyclonic chit-chatter
Amazing was her speaking proficiency
Also akin her choice of wording-skills
Anyone listening from a distance might have thought
Someone must have trained her in that way

Not even crawling for once she began walking
Started running around the house poking everything
Later only at seven-month age she made us so tired
For keeping her safe following her around
But she kept on playing this way the entire day
Excepting when she did feel really hungry

Her mindset to determined jumping-down started then
Never afraid of heights jumping with close-eyes
So many injuries she got on hands and feet
So many times we had to have her bandaged-antibiotic
Which suddenly stopped only the other day
After shifting her attention to new creative games

Now standing on high places she balances on her feet
Carefully holding her breath so her body doesn't move
Thus constantly keeping up my only curiosity- -
Who taught her this technique of holding breath
I believe her keenness to learn had been her inner-teacher

By the ways she began loving me I become so startled
As if she's floating on an endless ocean of love
Coming to me now and then saying “I love you Grandpa”
I cannot think of any comparison to her ways and means
Offering me her love and enjoying herself so much

So, she figured out new techniques each day of week
Always carrying her own love-merchandise around
If for any reason she could not catch my attention
If myself was busy in some of my pet projects
She sat very close to me so that I had to look at her eyes

Immediately She got up fast sitting on my lap
With a silent-voice saying –- you can't escape me now
Having no choice but to play with herself then
When she collected all her new toys close to me
And amid this flooded-toys my indifference vanished

Their knowledge skills increase from early childhood
So-many things they are learning from the mass media
Looking at her fast-growing skills I always wondered
Where is the end of our ongoing technological development
Now so early in life these kids are using cellphone computers

Thousands of children like Mya are born everyday
Soon, self-conscious newborns will reach their critical mass
Having global kids changing our centuries old traditions
Bringing fresh ideas and higher thoughts everywhere
To declare a firm start of a cute global village in no time

* Mya is going to be seven in coming November 20. She proved herself being a brilliant chess-player, practising Yoga with me regularly for over a year now enjoying it and doing many postures better than me convincing me that she will be a great yogi. She is also learning gymnastic and swimming with full devotion and enjoying it. She is highly devoted to music, dance. I can see a deep spiritual connection between us. I saw in her school many kids like her needing parental guidance to channelise their talents. I see similar kids in my own community with parental guidance. I am really thrilled about this gifted generation.
