The Astronomer Poem by G, E. Gorfu

The Astronomer

Peering through a telescope
Mesmerized by the Cosmos
Frozen in the moment
Till dust gathers on their eyelashes
Beyond observatory walls
Speeding Galaxies in Space
Dark matter and black holes
Trying to grasp with human brain
Mosquito over Niagara Falls
Hovering on abyss, empty
To make sense and explain
With most advanced tools
Counting misty dew-drops
Torrent flows, gushing splashes,
Every cascade, every bend,
Every eddy, as it crashes
Mighty swells and whirlpools
Where does it begin or end?
Eternity in an instance
Everything else in vain
Eternal chaos in progress
Ceaselessly searching ever
Infinity makes us fools
Reality we can't capture
Endless lightening flashes
Followed by the deafening thunder
Pity the plight of the astronomer!
