The Army I Have Become Poem by Sven Rhoads

The Army I Have Become

Oh, this battle has been taking its toll
The loss that seems to reach the sky
Feel the sickness in my beaten soul
Flushed with tremors that feel like I'll die
But I'm too far gone to turn back around
Continue the fight just to see its end
Enough time for sleep deep in the ground
I'm not alright so I wont pretend

Watching another one fall through
But what is there left to do
When only the fight remains
Its time to tap another vein

There is no one left to rely on
So in my mind I try to be strong
By the battle horn to scorch the earth
I must find my way and prove my worth

Oh, this war has gotten so damn old
I have nothing left, this heart is stone
I've heard their words and all they've told
But they've never faced this all on their own
As the fight goes on and the air gets thick
Bleeding out these harbored shadows
Dancing demons and their bag of tricks
Just a pill that I need to swallow

As the sand is running out
And in my mind there is no doubt
The army that I have become
Is for the rise of my moon and sun
