The Adventure Of Awakening To A Brand New Day Poem by Susan Williams

The Adventure Of Awakening To A Brand New Day

Rating: 5.0

.
I open my eyes
to blue blue skies
outside my bedroom window.
.
A bird is chirping very very cheerfully
from one of the evergreen trees
outside my bedroom window.
,
A squirrel is dashing roguishly down the telephone line
flipping his tail, his cheeks puffed out with pilfered nuts
outside my bedroom window.
.
I yawn, wondering sleepily why I woke up
and if I should just roll over and go back to sleep
and let the day proceed outside my bedroom window.
.
Then the neighbor's table saw roars into life,
taking a slice out of something besides the morning quiet
outside my bedroom window.
.

The tranquility of Mother Nature totally destroyed by man's conveniently destructive invention. What a price we must all pay!
