The Adumbration Of Night Poem by Mellisa Salazar

The Adumbration Of Night

two shadows walk

across these castle walls

and each one

just around a corner

enduring only by

the birth of the night

and the blush of a flame

igniting the halls

two shadows are one

with the cold stone walls

a smoky draft of you

and a clouded rendition of me

two shadows so eager

to not be alone

frantically running

across the cold stone

a stairway goes somewhere

so somewhere we go

a door that swings open

and two shadows go

now one with the night

they have both found

that by the brilliance of light

Into the vastness

they’re bound

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is about loving your dark side, and finding your way out of the dark and knowing that the light is not only always with you, but that it is you. They're are other people on the same path as you and you don't need to feel alone. It can be scary if you only look at what you think is wrong with yourself and other people, it makes you want to run and hide. The world can look like a dark place, even in beautiful places like castles if you choose to let it. The shadow of the night, is the light.
