That Day Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

That Day

Rating: 5.0

That Day

One day i shall wake up without the world
Or, rather the world without me
Having moved on to nether lands
Free of the prejudices of man
Where equality is at atomic level
Not some arbitrary label

I shall have shed off the albatross of my identity
The colour of my skin
My ethnicity
Electricity will be electrons going round my nuclei
My global positioning coordinates
Never the property of any government

There i shall make my most valued contribution
A free elemental form so critical to the health of the cosmos
Vibrating to infinity without contrition
Without conditions
Unlike now where everything i do is judged
Conditional upon satisfying someone or something.

One day i shall wake up without the world
Or, rather the world without me
I know the sun will not bate an eyelid
The moon will never wink
Only the earth will turn inside out for me
That Day

That's one thing guaranteed, one day we will all take an eternal rest - or come back as a frog, cat or donkey.
