Thank You.... Is Not Enough Poem by Brian Hairbottle

Thank You.... Is Not Enough

So much has passed through my life
at one time I had so much pain and strife
Death wishes and attempts to kill myself
have come and passed, some close, by knife
Or others far,
through the interference of others.

Today, as I consider my miserable existence
the past is like a pittance
And I see all the heartache and suffering
the molesting and pain that others are inflicting
I KNOW what they are feeling.
Fourteen years of the same thing is not for nothing

Now l have made it my goal
through low, trust and care
NOT to let another fall
by the wayside, nor to be treated unfair.
if I am to late, it is better to be
late than not at all.

So my friends, l have not much to offer
but love, grace, care and to honour
If you can accept these in your day
then the promise I made to do my best to light your way
Will not have been in rain

If when you lay your body this night to rest
you can say today was maybe not the best
But worthwhile, because I know
that there is someone who thinks enough of me as a person
To care and accepts me because I am me

My desire, should you be able to accept
is to give you back your dignity and worth
To know that you are not alone, no debt
you do not need to do anything more
But accept that you have a right to be
who you are and as you are.
