Temptations Poem by Achim Wollscheid

Temptations

Left and right, everywhere I turn
I find haunting temptations
Grabbing at my throat
Making their way to my vulnerable mind
And I fight them with words
That I know they cannot hear
But that I know will reach mine own ears
These words stretch to the Heavens
Where God resides with His angels
There, He is listening to me
The temptations continue to crawl over my skin
But God is my fortress within
And as long as He protects my body, mind and soul
There is nothing too strong
So let these temptations flee
Let them depart from me
And when I come to see them again
I know exactly what to say
I will call upon the Lord, where my help comes from
Whenever I feel a flood of desire rush through my veins
I’ll look not to worse things
But to the guidance of my Father to rid temptations
