Teacher To Students Poem by Denys E. W. Jones

Teacher To Students

Well now, did you really think,
That you'd in Despair sink,
When we had our last Group C class?

Or were you so afraid
Our fond memories would fade,
And we'd have nothing left to share?

Oh, really, there's no need,
To pay such sad thoughts heed,
Because your English Teacher is still here.

And so my dear Group C,
It's plain as plain can be,
There really isn't much to fret about...

Time so very fast doth flow,
That before you even know,
Together all of us shall once more be...

Back in the AdP, (hope not in Room 15 -
It's the worst Room in the place)
Room 18 ain't so bad.

Think how much then you'll be glad,
When all of us are back,
And I will help you … LEARN lots more again!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Group C is the name of the group of students that I teach at Genoa University. On Thursday 11th May we had our last lesson of the year, and my students were a bit sad becasue I will not be their teacher again until October 2024, when they begin their 3rd year. Therefore I wrote this poem to cheer my students, and myself up. The AdP is the Albergo dei Povero, where we had our lessons on Fridays. Room 18 is where they will probably have 3rd year lessons in 2024.
