Talking To A Rock Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Talking To A Rock

I sit here staring at a huge bolder
wondering what marvels I have missed
You were there weren't you… mouton
then cooling with a throbbing in your wrist

Your arrival was that of the first… a marker
on the timeline of history… speaking truth
Documenting existence from then to now…
Solitude surrounds as you grow smooth

I lean a little closer to see if I can hear
the secrets of your phenomenal birth
In your silence I can hear the manifestations
of your trust in the heavenly creator of earth

Recalling a long evolution of transformation
resting and basking in the warmth of the sun
encircled by growing and breathing things...
Joyful, knowing that another day has begun
