Talking In The Rain
The lake this morning was
Clothed in rain as I walked
Around its perimeter.
The wind threw a blanket
Over the wet morning as
Swans took shelter on hard
Ground.
Robins, blackbirds and even
The rooks stayed away. Only
I trudged around witnessing
The rising river lapping over
The weir.
Luckily I had waterproofs on
And had the lake to myself
Until I bumped into an old
Friend, a former para, who
Walked his two dogs, also
Wearing coats.
Passing time by chatting in
The rain. The rain makes for
A very long day.
However, the rain does soften
The hard winter Earth, preparing
It for the coming spring.
The rain drops come and soften all shocked heart to enjoy the feelings
Life is a bubble... nobody can claim that his stay in this earth is certain!
A purposeful rain.....Nice poem, I was at home all day as it was raining and chilly wind dashing.
The rain preparing for the coming of spring. I love these long walks whether in winter or rain - makes life truly joyful.
