Take What You Want From Love Poem by Adams King

Take What You Want From Love

Rating: 2.5

The cowardice of men, had love dented
Afraid to say what purpose brought them near
Is it for beauty, wealth or fleshly endowment
Then propose to love your inner reasons first

Much suitable gain it is than loss to you
To lose love with the truth than with lies
The sky need the sun to steal some blue
Lovers are all after a certain price

Yet we bend to suit love's rolling wheels
Leaving every intention not straight forward
Why say go won't what you know you will
Loving with brave tongues but heart of cowards

If gold and silver is all you seek from me
Then submit to the love for my wealth instead
Don't tell me you love my eyes and all in me
When all you love is the gold crown on my head

If the lust for pleasures brings you near
Then tell me my body is the price you seek
Take what you want from love but leave it fair
For love is meant to be truthful and unique

Don't tell me you're the everlasting light
When I know the moon betrays love at dawn
Tell me if you know this heaven won't last
And stop the dramatic lasting love you play on

Take what you want from love but leave it fair
That I will give love for love and lust for lust
To make balance the scale of feelings we share
And break apart without having love's nature lost
