Supplicant Arms Poem by Callie Carroll

Supplicant Arms

Rating: 5.0

Freckled arms
long and lean
soft and supple
Wiping crumbs from messy tables,
smoothing wrinkles from sloppy beds
gathering dust from shadowy corners.
Busy, busy, never still.

Freckled arms
beseechingly buoyant,
drifting, drifting
on soothing water-
Finally calm, finally still.
Pale, cool arms and a peaceful ride,
Calm and still on a bittersweet tide.

In a life of quick showers your poem reminds me of what I'm missing thanks for a relaxing read...

'beseechingly buoyant...' beautiful! That second stanza takes an already well-seen & well-described poem into the next division up: you craft your work well, Callie, and give the rest of us a standard to aim for. Thank you.
