Summer Flowers Poem by Warren Augustus de Guzman

Summer Flowers

Is it not true of flowers that bloom when the summer sun rises from the east..
That they glitter and shine with bright colors divine, for the naked eye a simmering feast.

Is it not so that the flowers that grow when the cool pastel waters call for your skin.
That they shimmer and flare and command you to stare, as they gleefully dance with the wind.

Is it unreal how these flowers do feel like they've dropped onto the world from a star.
That they burn and delight with such fervor and might, slyly prying your mouth ajar.

Is it unclear why these flowers are here, carefully picked and strewn together as such.
That they playfully say what needs to be said, things we hide though they matter so much.
