Submission To Wife's Commands (By St. Thiruvalluvar) Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Submission To Wife's Commands (By St. Thiruvalluvar)

901.
One who dotes on one’s wife won’t attain excellence of virtue.
One who makes arduous efforts hates such a lust for wife.
902.
Caring not his manly works, if he is infatuated with his wife
His wealth will bring a crying shame to him.
903.
A man’s submissive nature to his wife
Will make him feel ashamed among the noble for ever.
904.
The one who is henpecked has no benefits of his next birth,
Though he has ability to do things, ignored by glory.
905.
One who is wife-fearing will fear to do good deeds
To worthy men ever.
906.
They have no dignity, though they live a god-like life
If they are frightened by the bamboo-like arms of their wives.
907.
The womanliness of one’s wife excels the manliness of one
Who waits at the behest of one’s wife.
908.
He who dances to his wife’s tune
Will neither help friends in need nor do no acts of charity.
909.
Deeds of virtue, great wealth, and other joys of life
Do not abide in him who waits at his wife’s command.
910.
No chance of being foolishly dominated by one’s wife
If one has a probing mind and wealth.
