Strays That Stayed Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Strays That Stayed

Of all the dogs and cats I've met
there exists a category labeled 'strays'
There are no rigid rules of selection
They latch onto your heart and stay

I have experienced the companionship
of two dogs and a cat that are remarkable
By chance, their soulful eyes gained access
to a partnership that became irreversible

No comparison can score superiority...
they each are uniquely outstanding as pets;
devoted dogs and a curious cuddly cat...
Sometimes fate determines what you get

This poem is in reference to my buddies: Pookie, Brownie, and Dillon.
